Doug Reviews: SPY
Melissa McCarthy is an interesting performer. On the one hand, she has overcome the stereotypical image of what a leading lady should look like, which is great, but on the other hand, about every other movie of hers is garbage. She was great in Bridesmaids and The Heat, but Identity Thief was not good and Tammy was an affront to God. Does her latest, Spy, keep the pattern going or does it signal another downturn in the quality of McCarthy’s work? Continue reading
Doug Reviews: Entourage
Movies based on TV shows are tricky things. Some are great self-contained stories that not only please fans of the series, but also create new fans of the property, like in the case of X-Files, while others are throwbacks to an earlier, more creative period of a long-running series, like in the case of The Simpsons Movie. Doug Reviews: Aloha
After seeing the trailer for Writer-Director Cameron Crowe’s Aloha, I was really excited to see a really well done adult comedy/drama about a guy trying to restart his life and win back his old flame while taking nuggets of advice from his eccentric boss. Doug Reviews: Adult Beginners
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting with Director Ross Katz’ Adult Beginners. I knew it had comedic actor Nick Kroll and current comedy darling Rose Byrne in it, so I guess I was expecting a raunchy, bawdy comedy. What I ended up with was not that at all. Continue reading
Doug Reviews: Tomorrowland
Director Brad Bird makes another foray into live-action filmmaking with Disney’s Tomorrowland. This time he teams with LOST alum Damon Lindelof, but is Tomorrowland another Brad Bird classic or just a time waster until he finally makes Incredibles 2? Continue reading

Doug Reviews: Maggie
If I told you Arnold Schwarzenegger would have a great performance in 2015, you’d probably assume I was talking about the upcoming Terminator sequel, but you’d be wrong. However, while Arnie’s performance is great, is his new movie, Maggie? Continue reading
