On Episode 149 of The Hodgepodge Podcast, Doug and Dirty A welcome back friend of the show Matt King to discuss Spider-Man: Homecoming! Is this the first Spider-Man film that Doug will love all the way through? Will it make Matt forget all about Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man 2? Will Dirty A rank it with the Thor movies? Take a listen and find out!
It’s that time of year again, where the major movie studios throw blockbuster films at moviegoers’ feet! However, with films like Logan, Beauty and the Beast, and Fate of the Furious releasing in the first third of the year, and future hits Justice League, Thor: Ragnarok, and The Last Jedi coming in the last two months, is summer still a special season for movies? Yes, and I’m about to tell you why.
As usual, I’ve listed the films I’m interested in seeing in their current order of release, as these dates are subject to change. At the end, I’ve included a short list of the films I’m iffy on and three that I’m avoiding like the plague. Click on the titles to see the trailers (if available) and here…we…go!
And so, Marvel Studios brings audiences the story of Doctor Strange, another arrogant prick who needs a lesson in humility. Does this superhero origin story stack up with Marvel’s best or is this a subpar effort?
Have you seen Captain America: Civil War yet? No? Good, because once you listen to Hodgepodge Podcast 110, you won’t have to see it. In this epic-length episode, Doug and Dirty A are joined once again by author Matt King to discuss the latest Marvel film in painstaking detail. Everything is covered and nothing is off-limits, so that’s your SPOILER ALERT. If you manage to make it to the end, you may even hear the guys debate which trilogy is better: Captain America or The Dark Knight!
Doug and Dirty A are again joined by author Matt King for a truncated Episode 109. Seriously, this might be the shortest Hodgepodge Podcast ever. The boys speed through some of their most anticipated films of the summer and they kick it off with a movie that’s already out in theaters, Captain America: Civil War.
It’s that time of year again—that time when blockbusters come out to play. However, in 2016, you’d be hard-pressed to see the summer movie-going season as any different from the rest of 2016 so far. February brought us Deadpool, March was Zootopia and Batman v Superman, (yes, despite the critical shellacking, it made money), and April has just delivered The Jungle Book. But during the summer months, these colossal movies will be coming at audiences every week.
As usual, I’ve compiled a list of the films I’m most looking forward to with some B-listers thrown in as well. The dates listed here are subject to change, but I’ve got all these films in order of release as of today. Click on the film titles to see the trailers. And as has been the case several times since I started the annual feature, it all kicks off with a Marvel movie…
On Episode 12 of The Crossover Podcast, Doug and Matt talk about the big blockbusters headed your way over the next few months including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War, (clearly, this was recorded before the final trailer for Cap 3 blew up the Internet). Then they turn their attention to the small screen and discuss the upcoming Season 2 of Daredevil on Netflix as well as the casting of Iron Fist. Finally, they discuss the dumpster fire that is the Gambit film as well as rumors that a certain classic Wolverine villain will show up in his next film.
