Episode 155 of The Hodgepodge Podcast features Doug and Dirty A’s Fall Movie Preview! Take a listen to find out all the films the boys are looking forward to as the studios deliver their Oscar hopefuls and massive blockbusters! But first, Dirty A gives his review of the film adaptation of Stephen King’s IT!
Holy cow, this year’s Fall Movie Preview is late—hey, I’m allowed to go on vacation too—it’s also chockful of (potentially) great movies. This fall movie season has got everything from major, major blockbusters, to Oscar hopefuls, to more mid-level films that just hope to score your attention for two hours. This year, I’ve grouped the films by release date, but be advised, those dates are always subject to change. In fact, the only one that won’t change is my first entry, because that film is already in theaters:
It’s that time of year again—actually, it’s PAST that time of year again, but I was on vacation—time for my Fall Movie Preview! The Oscar Race begins here as a ton of prestige films try to get out before the end of the year, while some last minute blockbusters try to make a few bucks in a release schedule that is less top-heavy than what we saw in the summer. As usual, I’ll be running down the films that I’ll most be looking forward to that will be released over the next four months. Be warned, though, Fall Films are notorious for shifting release dates as studios jockey for the best Oscar position and many of the dates listed here are initial dates for when these films launch in limited release—you may not see them in your area until January. Take a gander!
Let’s get this out of the way right from the start: there are a LOT of great movies coming out this Fall Movie Season, but there’s really only one that I absolutely HAVE to see…seven times. As usual, I have compiled a small list of the titles I’m most looking forward to the last quarter of the year. If you want a more expansive preview, I suggest you check out Entertainment Weekly’s—they do a good job. Also remember, these titles are listed in order of release as they stand now. All dates are subject to change. So, without further ado, let’s go to the movies!
