Episode 203 is a little late, but it’s chock-full of movie review goodness! In this episode, Doug and Dirty A discuss the pros and cons of the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, before diving into the films Doctor Sleep, Ford v. Ferrari, and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Then, Doug gives his thoughts on the Depeche Mode documentary, Spirits in the Forest, from the band’s longtime collaborator, Anton Corbijn.
After a mountain of behind the scenes drama, the latest Star Wars spinoff, Solo, has arrived in theaters. Director Ron Howard came on board after Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were very publicly fired and extensive reshoots were made. Did Howard deliver a winner? Does this prequel live up to the iconic status of its titular character? Well, I did mention it’s a prequel, right?
In 2015, The Force Awakens resurrected the Star Wars franchise and became the highest-grossing domestic film of all-time. Now, Writer-Director Rian Johnson brings audiences the eighth film in the Skywalker family saga, The Last Jedi. Does this film re-hash the past or forge a new path into the future for Star Wars?
Episode 155 of The Hodgepodge Podcast features Doug and Dirty A’s Fall Movie Preview! Take a listen to find out all the films the boys are looking forward to as the studios deliver their Oscar hopefuls and massive blockbusters! But first, Dirty A gives his review of the film adaptation of Stephen King’s IT!
Hey Hodgepodgers, Doug here. Every year, I get annoyed at the whole “May the 4th be with You” B.S. that happens every fourth of May. Great, an easy play on words has created an unofficial/official holiday for my favorite movies. Any Star Wars fan worth their salt knows that May 25th should be the actual holiday, because it was on this day in 1977 that Star Wars first burst onto the scene and the public consciousness. That’s 40 years ago for those who are counting. So, we at the Hodgepodge Podcast would like to celebrate Star Wars with the recognition that we NEVER give it on the podcast. 😉 Take a look back at all our Star Wars content and maybe celebrate today by growling like Chewbacca at one of your co-workers!
On the final episode of 2016, Doug and Dirty A remember the lives of Carrie Fisher and George Michael. In what seemed like an endless parade of celebrity deaths this year, these two hit Doug and Dirty A the hardest. Please join us in looking back at and saying goodbye to these two great artists.
Episode 127 is all about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story! Doug and Dirty A talk about what they liked and what they didn’t like in the first Star Wars spinoff film. Please note: there are MAJOR SPOILERS throughout this episode. If you haven’t seen Rogue One yet, you’re better off doing that first before listening to the episode.
And so, after much fanfare, the first “Star Wars Story,” Rogue One, is here. Does it live up to the hype/inflated expectations created by the massive success of The Force Awakens?
