It’s been a little while since the last episode, so with Episode 170, Doug and Dirty A jam a ton of summer movies into one tidy package. Films discussed include: Mission: Impossible: Fallout, BlacKkKlansman, Christopher Robin, and more!
It’s that time of year again, where the major movie studios throw blockbuster films at moviegoers’ feet! However, with films like Logan, Beauty and the Beast, and Fate of the Furious releasing in the first third of the year, and future hits Justice League, Thor: Ragnarok, and The Last Jedi coming in the last two months, is summer still a special season for movies? Yes, and I’m about to tell you why.
As usual, I’ve listed the films I’m interested in seeing in their current order of release, as these dates are subject to change. At the end, I’ve included a short list of the films I’m iffy on and three that I’m avoiding like the plague. Click on the titles to see the trailers (if available) and here…we…go!
It’s that time of year again—that time when blockbusters come out to play. However, in 2016, you’d be hard-pressed to see the summer movie-going season as any different from the rest of 2016 so far. February brought us Deadpool, March was Zootopia and Batman v Superman, (yes, despite the critical shellacking, it made money), and April has just delivered The Jungle Book. But during the summer months, these colossal movies will be coming at audiences every week.
As usual, I’ve compiled a list of the films I’m most looking forward to with some B-listers thrown in as well. The dates listed here are subject to change, but I’ve got all these films in order of release as of today. Click on the film titles to see the trailers. And as has been the case several times since I started the annual feature, it all kicks off with a Marvel movie…
The Hodgepodge Podcast is two years old! And with that dubious anniversary comes our Third Annual Best and Worst Films of the Summer lists! This year, Doug and Dirty A changed things up a little bit. Instead of their three best and three worst each, they have provided their FIVE best films and one worst. This was due to the fact that they largely avoided many of the worst-reviewed films of the summer and they had to limit their lists to what they actually saw. Take a listen and for those of you who have been with us over these last two years, thanks for listening!
It’s that time of year again when the temperatures remind those in denial that maybe the Earth is getting hotter and everyone seeks shelter in the air-conditioned sanctuary that is the local multiplex. But what to watch once you’re there? Well, I’m here to clue you in on twenty-two of the films I’m most curious about this summer. Like with my Fall Preview last year, this will be a curtailed affair, so I won’t be slamming too many films as unwatchable, but in looking at the calendar, I don’t see many egregious offenders—for once. Maybe that means movies are getting better? But it’s probably more because Paul Blart 2 is a spring release.
As always, I’ll list the films in order by release date, but of course, those dates are always subject to change. 2015 is shaping up to be a movie year for the ages and it all begins with a minor indie release called:
Episode 34 is Doug and Dirty A’s 2014 Summer Movie Preview! Equal time is given to the upcoming blockbusters as well as several indie flicks being released this season. Get the skinny on what to see this summer…or at least listen to Doug and Dirty A talk about what they want to see. Enjoy!
