Doug Reviews: Horrible Bosses 2

horrible_bosses_two_ver2_xlgIn 2011, Horrible Bosses was released to the tune of over $100 million at the box office. So, a sequel was inevitable. The first movie was pretty funny, but for me, the premise was flawed. I mean, three disgruntled employees immediately jump to murder to solve their HR problems. Comedy sequels usually suck. Would Horrible Bosses 2 do any better? Continue reading

Doug Reviews: Mockingjay Part 1

the-hunger-games-mockingjay-part-1-final-posterA few years ago, Warner Brothers started the trend of taking the final volume of an adaptation and splitting it into two films. That film/adaptation was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Lionsgate has continued this questionable trend with the final volume of the Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay. Continue reading

Doug Reviews: Nightcrawler

nightcrawler-poster-finalWriter-Director Dan Gilroy’s Nightcrawler is a sad commentary on today’s society and its obsession with sensationalist news. Driven by an Oscar-worthy performance by star Jake Gyllenhaal, it’s also one of the darkest, best films of the year. Continue reading
