The Oscars are this Sunday (February 26th) and for the fourth year in a row, The Hodgepodge Podcast will be live-blogging the event! So, if you’ve always wanted The Oscars to have live commentary like a sporting event, but in printed words only, this is the place to be! Jimmy Kimmel hosts the event, (The Oscars, not our liveblog), and we’ll finally all get to see if Hollywood can resist giving La La Land every award that night. The fun will start around 8PM EST (the telecast on ABC begins at 7PM with red carpet arrivals, but the actual ceremony starts at 8:30PM). So, swing on over during the show and see if Doug and Dirty A admit to blubbering uncontrollably once they get to memorializing Carrie Fisher.
Doug and Dirty A attempted to record an episode covering their picks for the best films of 2016. They got nearly to the end and Doug’s laptop took a huge dump, wiping out all the audio already recorded. So, they decided to present their picks this way, since they’ve talked about the majority of these films already on the podcast. So, without further ado, here are The Hodgepodge Podcast’s picks for the Best Films of 2016!
It’s that time of year again—actually, it’s PAST that time of year again, but I was on vacation—time for my Fall Movie Preview! The Oscar Race begins here as a ton of prestige films try to get out before the end of the year, while some last minute blockbusters try to make a few bucks in a release schedule that is less top-heavy than what we saw in the summer. As usual, I’ll be running down the films that I’ll most be looking forward to that will be released over the next four months. Be warned, though, Fall Films are notorious for shifting release dates as studios jockey for the best Oscar position and many of the dates listed here are initial dates for when these films launch in limited release—you may not see them in your area until January. Take a gander!
It’s that time of year again—that time when blockbusters come out to play. However, in 2016, you’d be hard-pressed to see the summer movie-going season as any different from the rest of 2016 so far. February brought us Deadpool, March was Zootopia and Batman v Superman, (yes, despite the critical shellacking, it made money), and April has just delivered The Jungle Book. But during the summer months, these colossal movies will be coming at audiences every week.
As usual, I’ve compiled a list of the films I’m most looking forward to with some B-listers thrown in as well. The dates listed here are subject to change, but I’ve got all these films in order of release as of today. Click on the film titles to see the trailers. And as has been the case several times since I started the annual feature, it all kicks off with a Marvel movie…
Welcome to The Hodgepodge Podcast’s 3rd Annual Oscar Live Blog! Doug and Dirty A will be listing winners and losers and giving their commentary on the ceremony. Who knows? You might read comments from a special guest! The festivities get started around 8PM EST, so be sure to come back to the site then and refresh often!
It’s that time of year again and for the third year in a row, Doug and Dirty A will be live blogging The Oscars! The show starts at 8:30PM EST on Sunday, February 28th, but the boys will be up and running around 8PM with last-minute predictions and snarky comments. Be sure to visit The Hodgepodge Podcast for all your Oscars coverage!
I compiled a list of films that I want to see for the last third of the year and came up with thirty-six titles. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the time to churn out an article of that size right now—self-publishing your first novel is a time-drain, kids. So instead, I selected thirteen films that I’m most looking forward to from September through December. As I’ve done with all my preview features in the past, I’ll list the titles in current release date order, but the one I’m most excited for rhymes with “winter cellar.”
Is Raiders of the Lost Ark the most perfect film ever made? Doug likes to think so and you can read why over at The Retroist. In his latest essay, he explores all the elements that came together in just the right way to make an enduring classic. Head on over to The Retroist and check it out. Thanks for reading!
